My boss has been staying in Singapore since last several years. He is eligible for Singapore citizenship but he has not applied for one. One of my colleagues found it surprising and enquired about the reason. My boss simply said that he does not want to. The colleague further enquired by asking what is the reason as it will make it much easier to travel from Singapore to other countries. My boss said, "It is true that it will make travelling much easier but I still do not want it. The main reason is that then I will be called a 'Singaporean'. And I am Indian, I do not want to change that"
I will always respect him for this.
